Not sure I would feel at home eeeeeek!!!
And now for the step by step ....................................
I made a whole the size of my door in a 5' by 7' canvas, I added some tulle
and then added some soft gel medium over it all, I also marked where my
hinges would go.
I painted on some Silks (all colours and all products at bottom of the page).
Before I painted on the silks I used texture paste through a tree stencil.
I painted the edges and back with black paint.
I added some black paint with a baby wipe over the enter canvas, I then
used some Magicals for drippage. What ever was left over I mopped up with some
I took some of the laser cuts (decorative sign, mace, skull, blackbird and door)
plus some plastic spiders and painted them all black (I didn't use the cat).
The metal part of the mace was painted silver.
I had some plastic skulls so I grunged up the head and some body parts for
I wanted some for the graveyard ungrunged so I covered them with soft matte gel,
I did this as the plastic skeletons were cheap and the grey kept rubbing off.
I put everything I planned to use on the canvas to see how it was looking.
I measure the hole and made a back part. I didn't want the whole thing closed
as I was planning on putting a light in and would want to remove it before it was stored.
I used Paperartsy heavy card for this and painted it black.
I then painted the inside edges of the canvas and the inside of the added box
with silks, I also used a skull stencil and added orange silk through it.
Next I used a shringe to add heavy body paint as blood down all the sides and on the shelf
Back to the front, I added some gorgeous Prima Finnabair Texture Paste Graphite to
the bottom and added the bones all the way through it.
I used texture paste through a square stencil on the door to give some texture.
I got some silver glitter fimo out and made some gravestones by printing
some out from the computer and trying to copy the shape. I then added RIP by stamping on the
I grunged up the gravestones by using the black paint and some treasure gold.
The graphite paste is now dry, wow I so love it lol.
This is the point I added the hinges. The door was a little bit smaller then the nail so
I glued the inside ones.
I used distress ink in brown and black plus a crackle stamp to grunge up
I ended up having to cut it down so I could add it to the inside of the door.
I used some nail gems for bats eyes and a normal gem for the blackbird,
to darken them in areas I used alcohol ink black.
I added the Tim Holtz light, I plan to take it out and use it for
Christmas projects. I don't like leaving batteries stored for a year to the next
I then added the box and added the light fittings. So I can remove the light
it was fitted with strong glue dots.
I added some clear beads and green alcohol ink in one bottle and
some mica flakes and red in another. I then stamped some labels.
I got these over a year ago, they look like mini pumpkins, not sure what
they are but the are hollow and dried. I very carefully added a scary pumpkin
face and grunged it up with brown ink.
I decided I wanted more of an orange look on my pumpkin so I mixed a red
treasure gold with a Paperartsy limited one. I added some nail gems to the spider
and normal gems to the skull, also using black alcohol ink on them, I then
used treasure gold.
I began to worry that the bottles might leak, so I used some silicone gel
over the edges, when it had dried I added a bit of the red and green and some treasure
I embossed the skull and welcome on the sign and then added treasure gold on it all.
Then I added it all together :-)
Wow that was a mega long post, hope you enjoyed it. You probably get so fed up with me doing step by steps, but I love the thought that someone else might give it a go or at least feel confident to use one of the techniques. Good news is, all my videoing equipment is set up, You Tube here we come lol, just got to get the hang of editing. Hope you have a spooky halloween.
Happy Creating :-)
Hugs Kezzy xxxxx
